Center Parcs National Schools Championships – KS4 Regional Round – 11th March 2014
Five of SJBC’s girls, Sophie Morley, Chloe Jordan, Rachel Cutts, Heather walker and Fran Baisley represented the Minster School in the Regional Round of the KS4 Inter-Schools Badminton Championships. They played valiantly but ended up with silver medals , having lost two games 21-20 to the eventual winners! Bad luck and well done everyone.

Center Parcs National Schools Championships -KS3 County Round – 28th February 2014
Six SJBC members, Dan Whaley, Oliver Stewart, Heather Collins , Eleanor Collins, Sofia Aujla-Jones and Emma Hooper represented the Minster School at the County Round of the Inter-schools Badminton KS3 Competition. The girls came second and the boys came third. Well done everyone.

Seven SJBC members, Maisie Cutts, Sophie Morley, Fran Baisley, Rachel Cutts, Heather Walker, Chloe Jordan and Behram Khan represented the Minster School at the County Round of the Inter-schools Badminton KS4 Competition. The girls won convincingly and so go through to the Regional Round on 11th March. Well played everyone!

Big Session – 15th February 2014
The first Big Session of 2014 took place on Saturday 15th Feb. Winners in the first session were Tim Stokes, Will Prentice, Michael Penn (captain), Amelia Allwood, Vicky Mendez and Millie Ridley. The second session competition was won by Eleanor Collins, Sophie Adams, Edward Sharpe and Behram Khan(captain).

Congratulations to Rachel Cutts and Heather Walker who represented Notts at the annual U17 RIO inter-county tournament at the York Railway Institute.

Big Session – 14th December 2013
At the Christmas Big Session on 14th December , we played a singles mini-tournament which resulted in some new faces in the winning positions. In the first session, the winner was Adam Foster with James Hardwick as runner-up and in the second session, Edward Sharpe was the winner and David Edmondson-Jones was runner-up. Well done…

Carlton Singles Tournament – Saturday 30th November
The Nottingham Junior Badminton Association Restricted Singles Tournament takes place annually at Carlton Forum and is open to any player who lives or plays in Nottinghamshire and who has not represented the County. Congratulations to Emma Hooper on winning two silver medals at the Tees Valley U13 bronze on Saturday 23rd November. The medals were in singles and mixed doubles.

Children in Need Big Session
Fifty five members took part in the Big Session on Saturday, raising £66.70 for Children in Need. The first mini-tournament was won by Michael Penn, Hope Sommers, Abigail Green, Eden Leaper (captain), Tim Stokes, Ellie Hardwick and William Allan; the second group was won by Dan Whaley (captain), Holly Prentice, Isaac Sommers and Izzy Mullen.

Newark & Sherwood Sports Awards 2013
At the Newark & Sherwood Sports Awards last night, the Minster Girls KS3 badminton team (Heather Walker, Sophie Morley, Maisie Cutts and Chloe Jordan) were named ‘School Sports Team of the Year’, Peter Mills won ‘Senior Sportsperson of the Year’ and Alex Fenton was a runner-up for his ‘Outstanding Contribution to Sport’.
